Enforcement and Inspection
The City of Mathis Code Enforcement Department enforces city ordinances and inspects both residential and commercial properties for violations that may threaten the general public safety. Our most common violations are bulky trash, weedy lots, substandard buildings, junk vehicles, illegal dumping, etc.
When Permits are Required
Permits are required for all citizens inside city limits when new construction, addition, repair / replace, or when any kind of remodeling is done to your home or place of business. The Public Works office will then accept or deny the request for the permit depending whether or not your request is in compliance with the city's zoning regulation.
Contact the Public Works Department at 361-547-5951 for permit fee schedules (PDF).
